I am not now nor have I ever been a member of the Republican Party (nor the Democratic Party for that matter). What Glenn Beck did to Debra Medina on Wednesday is just another reason why. Immediately following Beck’s attack, Rick Perry began running thousands of “robo calls” using Beck’s attack. The Governor “doth protest too much, me thinks” (Shakespeare), and might be running a wee bit scared (Linda Curtis).
My advice to Rick Perry is to keep running – down your toll roads. The fact that Beck, Perry and now Kay (shame on you girl!) are attacking Medina makes me want to support her all the more.
You see, independents love a fair fight and we detest the party machines for their dirty tricks. Although independents span the political spectrum, and therefore many of us don’t exactly fit into the Tea Party movement, we appreciate what is going on here. Medina is standing up to the party hacks and saying that ordinary people have – quite simply – the right to think and say whatever they believe without being demonized. The party hacks will never stand for that. But you knew that already, right?
Beck’s attack on Medina should be taken as a signal and a warning to tea partiers that the Republican Party will do and spend whatever it takes to crash and burn your party. There is a better place for you. It’s called the independent movement. But let me give you fair warning. We are of the belief that nothing is going to change about policy in this country, unless we build a united movement (across the ideological divide) for political reform.
We tried to build a united front for reform back in the 1990’s when Perot-led independent movement came on like gangbusters. But the Republican Party co-opted and then killed our agenda (deficit reduction, term limits and campaign finance reform). The rest of the movement killed itself off arguing about which litmus test we would use to denote a “true reformer”. Let’s not keep replaying this bad movie.
Here’s the Beck/Medina tape on YouTube for your own edification: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j2Ov6u9e38
Here’s Debra’s response: http://www.medinafortexas.com/getPost?p=272

This was a priceless exchange. Thank you for mentioning that you are anti-mind control! Brilliant way to not take his bait while also introducing a concept that needs attention and opposition in our society. Even those deeply entranced will rise up against such an evil concept as mind control. Well done! As soon as he realized how smart you are, he got rid of you fast, didn’t he? He knew he couldn’t get away with bashing you after the verbal wedgie you just gave him.
On a side note, I only watch clips of Glenn Beck in cases like this, but he always seems to be joking about kissing men. Really, he tries to make fun of YOU by joking about HIMSELF making out with Rick Perry? There is also some good footage on youtube of him putting vicks vaporub in his eyes so he can pretend to cry on camera, in case your office needs to take a break and have a good laugh. Sometimes I think we are just about to finally watch the dam break.
This was my email to Mr. Beck who I watch daily. My son sent you also and so should everyone else. Let him know that we don’t care what she said there is no proof if 9/11 was or wasn’t planned.
Mr. Beck,
As far as the Debra Medina’s comment I must stand in her defense. Why? Because my husband and I have
been dealing in the political issues of the Country for 40 years and history is our favorite subject. One of
our sons has graduated with a history degree and another is working on one. Let me remind you that our
government and the men who run it are not always up front with us, need I remind you that FDR knew the day the time and place of the Japanese attack. He kept this from the American public because this was the only way he could get into WWII. I am not saying that Bush or anyone else knew about the 9/11 attack but what I am saying if no one knew then we have the biggest bunch of dumb ASSES in the world protecting this Country and we are in trouble, big trouble. The facts are out there as what this government bureau knew and what that government bureau didn’t share, apparently with anyone. You don’t know, Debra Medina doesn’t know and neither does half of Washington D.C. know what happened. She was being honest, she doesn’t know.
As far as the other two candidates who are running for Governor of Texas. I will take Debra over the other
two any day of the week. We have a current Governor who has tried to shove the Trans-Texas Corridor down our throats and give little 12 year old girls a shot that no one knows what it might cause much less know if it would do any good. These are just two reasons I wouldn’t vote for him. Plus the fact one of his biggest contributors was said Drug Company. Then you have Kay-Heaven help us. A Washington insider with Daddy Bush and Dick Chaney on her side, don’t want her either, her voting record sticks. I have written her numerous letters and she has has written back but never addressed one issue I wrote her about.
I marked her off years ago.

Glenn Beck is an entertainer… who reaps millions from his deal with Fox News (not to mention ghost written books and speaking engagements). His attempts to connect with the concerns of the ‘common man’ – even fake crying…are disingenuous and transparent. While he complains about the republicans and democrats…he never gets to the real issues regarding government in general. He’s a proponent of big govt, taxes, even supported the Patriot Act AND thought the banker bailout was too small…
Glenn Beck in a ‘nutshill’

How he treated Medina was shameful and frankly rude. He admitted to having a ‘chip on his shoulder’ before the interview which was more than apparent to anyone listening.
No one truly knows what happened on 9/11… of course there are two extreme views –those believing everything the government and media tells us happened…and those that believe it was an ‘inside job’ – Most Americans fall somewhere in the middle. The fact that this question was asked was inappropriate. Medina is not a 9/11 ‘truther’… she’s a logical American citizen who was not privy to the evidence surrounding the investigation and stated as such. Heck, even Sarah Palin has called for a new 9/11 investigation… and no one is calling her a truther for having unanswered questions regarding one of the worst terror attacks on our soil. I commend Medina for her honesty – but that’s what I’ve learned to expect from her…and..it’s refreshing.
Dear Linda,
I have been flwg the set-up of Debra Medina & yes, even from our own local news media led by Sen Dan Patrick-Glenn Beck-Gov Rick Perry.
Perhaps someone would like to check into the issue of 2009 when Gov Perry was caught in the scandal involving the youths in the Texas correctional facilities where they were being raped & sodomized by guards & VIPs behind a locked office door, etc.
Perry & his office was informed & fully aware of this going on but did absolutely nothing to have it investigated or attempted to stop it for years.
Even worse, when it finally hit the fan Perry suddenly tried to deny having any knowledge & then defended the perpetrators by saying they were being treated to harshly.
One must ask why Gov Perry would condone perverted sexual abuse & exploitation of minors/our children.
Perry has been praying this topic will not again see the light of day during this election.
I “betcha”, so has Dan & Beck. Would they have to cover it on their news media nation wide in order to save face & their credibility after what they did to Debra?
Anyone can find details of the story on the internet, I did. It’s truly a shocker & was even covered by Sen Dan Patrick on his radio program as it was breaking & he was
sitting in session.
Patriots, our family was not sure if we would be voting this election because the Republican Party has made it clear they do not want folks to vote if they associate with or have been name-tagged by them as 911 truthers, birthers, paultards, or seek latino votes.
This is a tactic where you publicly “shame” the opposition to achieve the desired outcome.
We are simple folk who believe in our Constitutions as the Laws of this land & use our GOD ALMIGHTY given brain to think with, not a talking head.
Now we will be voting MEDINA.
We are not 9-11 truthers, birthers, paultards or what-ever the Repub/Demo club wishes to name-tag any opposition who are American citizens.
We have now revoked our Republican stat on our voter registration & will not join the TEA PARTY because the Republican Party has taken charge from within.
They are filtering out those who began the movement to rid opposition of whom-ever will be the “anointed-One” as usual, by using the tactic of “public shame” name-tagging
within Tea Party members.
In closing let me say, Glenn Beck has publicly lied on his show when he stated he was the “first” to warn about the financial crisis 3 yrs ago (I believe). It is on record that
US Rep Ron Paul was the “first” to begin warning Americans of the financial crisis many years ago, at the federal level & Fed Reserve.
Maybe Beck can pull up a clip of when Rep Paul first began warning Americans vs Beck’s “first” warning. I would love for him to make a “liar” out of me.
The flwg is a short list of news websites that readers can begin educating themselves on the TYC scandal. It’s a tad ironic that this is supposedly a “pro-life” governor.

Ron Paul is the only Republican I will vote for. Fox News advertised politicians do the complete opposite of Republican platform and you try to cast Dr. Paul off as the kook? Well, look who won the CPAC poll despite the smears and misinformation. Fox Antics=FAIL!
